Also, we’ve had a lot of folks ask about the intro music snippet at the beginning of our podcasts. It’s “Pretty Deep” by the spectacular Tanya Donelly. How this song didn’t become a massive hit is still the subject of deep scientific debate. Hopefully, she won’t sue us for using it.

For the latest edition of the Surviving Grady Red Sox podcast, Red and Denton decided to balance our “onions” jokes and alcohol-soaked lunacy with someone who actually knows baseball, so we are pleased to welcome special guest Beth from Cursed To First.

Once the niceties are out of the way, the three jump upon the wings of a huge, flying dog (not unlike the folks in The Never Ending Story) and tackle such topics as whether ’tis nobler to be the underdog or picked to win it all, how much Beckett has left in the tank, what more can we possibly expect from Clay and Lester and why you can never, ever, ever discount the Yankees. Even when they’re all fat. All this plus Peter Gammons and Jim Leyritz references.

It’s a half hour — a big, bonus episode we considered holding for “sweeps week” — and there’s some language. But we think you’ll dig it. Download it here, or use the player below to listen.
