I was less than thrilled at the choice of John Farrell for many of the reasons Red mentions. I wanted Hale or Pena, because I have been underwhelmed by Farrell while managing Toronto. That said, the other side is the players might respect him, coaches may actually talk to him (what a concept) and the front office may give him the ability to actually do his job. Maybe the name of this blog should now be Surviving Grady and Bobby V. I’m hoping that at least we can be a 500 team next year and at least we hired a manager early enough so he can start making decisions. GO SOX.

The Red Sox are like the guy who just won’t let his old girlfriend get on with her life. He keeps showing up at her door late at night after having too much to drink and begging her to come back. I am like the best friend that has to go through it with him even though I know he’s a jackass. Well here we go again that dumb #$%&# opened the door again. Here’s hoping those crazy kids can make it this time either way I guess I’ll be there in the end that’s what good friends do right?

When I first saw a picture of Francona in the fall of ’03, I thought the Sox had hired a descendant of Ghandi. If psycho Philly fans would slash a man’ s tires on player appreciation day how did this poor bastard have a chance in Boston? It worked out well to say the least.
I was pulling for DeMarlo….the kind of you-know-your-jobs-but-I-will-break-my-foot-off-in-your-ass-if-you-dog-it type of manager these coddled underachievers sometimes need.
That said, I’m hopeful Farrell delivers. Fact is they could bring John McGraw back from the grave and it doesn’t work w/o full FO support.
