La Schelle Tarver: American Badass

by Red on March 9, 2012

Clickee for bigee.

We all knew that La Schelle Tarver, utility man extraordinaire for the 1986 Red Sox, was pretty bad ass. Some of you might recall La Schelle from his role as “the guy who tried to jump into the stands at Yankee Stadium with a bat after a fan grabbed Jim Rice’s cap off his ‘fro and Big Jim Ed and a few other Sox players sought to retrieve it.”

I was more impressed after thumbing through an old Scorecard from ’86 and finding that among the Red Sox player listings, La Schelle is represented by his last name only: “Tarver”.

Probably just a printing oversight. Or was it? Perhaps back then it was pretty much understood at any level of the organization that when La Schelle Tarver says to just call him Tarver, that’s the end of the questions.

Hey y'all! Spring training baseball on TV makes me happy. It'll be interesting to see Bard starting a game.

Go Sox!

I have that 1986 program. It has Don Baylor on the cover. I was at Fenway for a 3 game set that summer against the buttfuckingasswipeyanks. Great seats too, right by the dugout.
