@Tex19 To me it seems that it wasn’t the beer, it was that they didn’t give a shit about what was happening on the field on the days they weren’t pitching. And if they don’t give a shit when they’re not pitching maybe they don’t care as much as they should when they are. And what if some of those September games had gone deep into extra innings and they burned through the bullpen? I know I would prefer my pitching staff would wait until after the game to eat and drink in case one of them needed to be called in to get a couple of outs. It didn’t happen, but it could have at a time the team desperately needed to win a game or two. It seemed to me in ’04 is that everyone CARED what was happening during the games…

This no beer in the clubhouse has been BV’s policy wherever he has managed. I have to admit i wasn’t all that chuffed about Valentine getting the job but I do like seeing how engaged he is there at ST; roaming around, giving instruction and NOBODY seems to be standing around shagging flies in the outfield.

@BB.13 I really don’t think drinking a couple of beers when they WERE NOT pitching caused the Sox to lose it all…no one bashed the boys when they were talking about drinking JD…sure they were winning…but it wasnt due to them drinking
