Foxsports is reporting Dale Sveum is currently leading the race to become the next Skipper of the Boston Red Sox. I will admit right here and now that I have no idea how to evaluate potential candidates for this job, but I have to say, Sveum sucked as a third base coach during his previous stint in Boston. As hitting coach for the Brewers, the team batting average has dropped slightly each year during his tenure. Sveum was .500 (213-211) as a double-A manager.

Does any of that mean squat when it comes to managing the Red Sox? Probably not. And we are one day closer to spring.
