Aw, We Wanted Wake to Get #200 at Fenway Anyway

by Red on August 14, 2011

I could go on about how ridiculous it is to lose a series to the second-worst team in the American League. Or how Carl Crawford will drive me to alcoholism by September. Or how I’d sell my soul to the devil to see Adrian Gonzalez start hitting home runs again.

But that’s just complaining. Instead, I’ll paraphrase something my brother-in-law said earlier tonight: I hope Wakefield gets his 200th win before he gets his 200th loss.

Engage.

Wow - just thinking Timmy could hit 200 losses before 200 wins casts a dark cloud. I don't think he is that bad but you never know.

I prefer to think that for all things to be right Timmy has to win it in the Fens.

I just can't feel good about it happening anywhere else (well to Celebrate @ the Evil Empire Facility would have an ironic shade to it).

Carl Crawford seems to have Lugitis (a condition sometimes characterized by the inability to play for a Boston Team). There can be no other explanation. We know he has all the tools. Remember - he used to tear the Sox up when he was on the Rays roster.

Now as far as A-Gone goes. Hmmmmm.... I am an 'unbeliever' in the Home Run Derby. He has not been the same since the AS break and the Derby. Maybe somehow there is a 'subtraction of game runs' that takes place upon being a derby entrant. I don't know but I do know this - he will snap out at some point so let's not line up on the Tobin yet.

I keep telling myself that Carl Crawford did not suddenly become a mediocre player upon signing a huge contract. This is a one year aberration. He must still have those skills that prompted the boy genius to spend gazillions on a "want" instead of a "need".

But Pod help me, I'm starting to doubt.
