It took an eight-inning masterpiece from the Commander and a walked-in run in the ninth to get it done, but the Sox completed the sweep in Houston and are finally heading home. Beckett fanned 11 while walking none and allowing just one earned run over his eight innings of work. Youk drew a bases-loaded walk following an intentional walk to Gonzalez and that would prove to be the game-winner.
The Sox will likely need to scratch out a few more runs with Lackey on the mound against the Jays. It’s a 1:35 start and looks to be a perfect day for baseball.
