Few Sox players in recent memory have been as polarizing as JD Drew. Folks seem to either love him and his magical stats, or despise his low-key demeanor. But no one can deny that the highlight of his career in a Boston uniform — to this point, anyway — was that miraculous grand slam that helped seal up game six of the 2007 ALCS and even the series at 3-3.
From the minute the ball left Drew’s bat, we never looked back, outscoring the Injuns 19-4 over the final 17 innings of that series, bouncing back from three straight losses in games two through four.
As a Drew fan, I dug every second of his jaunt around the bases–an image that no doubt haunts Fausto Carmona to this day.
