Kids,

I've got nothing. I take that back.

Anything other than a Colorado Rockies 2007 run is all we got. Here's my list:

Too many injuries.

Too much inconsistency in run production (I know, we scored a lot this season)

Too much inconsistency from Beckett and Lackey (the biggest factor in my book). Matsuzaka doesn't get a free pass, but we kind of knew he would be up and down as he always is. Wake does get a pass, as he will do anything for the team.

Too many bullpen / Paps implosions (those alone would close the gap to near nothing).

So of those mentioned above, The starters stand out. Because if they were consistent, we win. Clay and Jon did their part, better than we expected for Clay. Jon seemed to tire the second half of the year.

I'm not saying the injuries did not matter, and they may have very well have prevented a 100 win season. But what I list above really has put all the nails in the coffin in place. To be slowly hammered in.
