If Red Sox Nation needed any more evidence on what a tough season it’s been, how about this: last night’s win earned them a season split with the Orioles. The Sox have been kicking sand in the face of the Orioles for years, going 55-17 since 2006. Last year they were an incredible 16-2 against the O’s. And in 2010, according to the head-to-head record, they are just as good as the Sox.

We’ll take whatever good things we can: Lackey looking strong, Papi’s bomb, Bard and Papelbon doing their 8th and 9th inning work as planned. Tonight, Sabathia vs. Price for a potential Cy Young showdown before the Sox head for NYC. I don’t know about the rest of you, but these meaningless games are tough to watch.
