Giving Never Hurts

Donate today!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the fine folks who came out to the Lansdowne Pub last night for our Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon fundraiser event. We raised some coin for a damn good cause, drained many beers, and treated some unfortunate souls to my live band karaoke version of “Party in the USA.”

And thanks to fellow Sox bloggers Beth and Bottom Line Rob for making the scene, and to SupahFans, Barstool Sports and Rob for the cool shirt donations.

If you couldn’t make it, you can still donate online.

I’ve lost many a good person in my life to cancer, so I’m always happy to do my part to f#$k its shit up, especially where kids are concerned. Thanks to you for doing yours.

Oh, and as for last night’s game? Screw the game. We’re fighting cancer, man.

Peace.

VJ - I'm always optimistic, but I think we're fighting a losing battle this year.  Whenever we seem to be getting it together, something goes wrong.  Injuries mainly, but a patch of poor form from Dice-K or Lackey, or just a bad game or two to fuck up our rhythm,

We're always just that little bit short when a long, consistent run is needed.

Hopefully we'll grab the wild card, but I won't be shocked if we don't.

But we have fought valiantly, considering the incredible raft of injuries we've had to deal with.

I never want to lose faith. But I am very near to just saying fuck it. Bring on the off season so we can heal. Then we can put Beltre on a mission to break the ribs of everyone on the Yankees and/or Rays.

I think ESF has a point. I understand the collision of Beltre and Ells caused some broken ribs, but the /red /sox medical staff has not done a good job with this stuff.

But given all of our injuries, we're still in there fighting. And lots of games against the teams ahead of us. Now if we could put Beckett back on the DL with the, "I'm-a-fat-ass-out-of-shape" hamstring injury, we'll be all set.

I wonder if he'll be back this season. It might get to a point that it's better for him to take his time and heal. Think of the future, Pedie, and don't risk long-term injury.

I'm beginning to have serious concerns about our medical people.

Lowell's missed thumb injury.
The different opinions on Schilling after he signed that new deal.
Ellsbury's misdiagnosis/premature return(twice?)
Pedroia's premature return.

I seem to recall there were other instances where they were seen to have missed/misdiagnosed things.

Is this the head of our medical staff?

It was definitely the place to be for a game like that. :) Thanks for making it a fun night despite the loss, and for organizing the event for a worthy cause.

Fitting to have Lester on the mound tonight.  He will bring us to victory

Well, we need to forget this one and get the next one. At least Tampa lost, so the WC gap is still 5 1/2.
