Congrats to one-time Red Sox Andre Dawson for being named to the Baseball Hall of Fame. He was born with the odds against him, or so it says on the cover of his autobiography, but I’m glad everything turned out reasonably okay for him.

Of course, his tenure in Boston, toward the end of his career, was fairly unremarkable. But then, so was our line-up at that time:

Tony Pena
Mo Vaughn
Scott Fletcher
John Valentin
Scott Cooper
Mike Greenwell
Billy Hatcher
Carlos Quintana
Andre Dawson

Not surprisingly, the 1993 team powered by that line-up finished fifth in the AL East at 80-82. But today, The Hawk is in the Hall. Meanwhile, Carlos Quintana is refilling hot sauce jugs at a taco restaurant near you.
