NESN and Fox Sports are reporting that the Sox are actively shopping Scenic Lowell, even willing to yummy down on half his $12 million salary to clinch a deal. Not surprising, because in all this Adrian Gonzalez chatter, the most likely scenario — assuming the Sox could ever pull it off — saw Youkbacca moving to third.
Lowell’s been nothing but a stand-up guy since he arrived as a sidecar to the Josh Beckett deal, and even post-hip surgery, he managed to whack the ball around Fenway and post a .290 average and a .337 OBP. That said, watching the man scurry down to first last season was a grim reminder of my own mortality. And I get enough of that seeing the stack of empty PBR cans in the corner post-game.
