
Wanting to witness the sorry state of popular music, I flipped on the American Music Awards last night, just in time to see A-Rod take the stage. The smattering of boos heard after Mr. Hudson noted that “It’s been a great year for New York,” somehow made even the turgid Jay-Z/Alicia Keys number that followed seem palatable.
