When I think Eck, I think hair and ‘stache before all those pitching accolades. So I got a kick out of this line from Napoleon Shaughnessy’s story in today’s Globe about the earthquake-interrupted ’89 World Series:

“I was combing my hair in the clubhouse bathroom when it happened,’’ said A’s closer Dennis Eckersley. “I got out of there.”

Of course, that’s precisely what I’d expect Eck to be doing right before an earthquake. Or before any other type of event, honestly.
