Sox and Rays rained out last night, so we’ll play two on Sunday.

Rangers and M’s also rained out, so they’ll play two on Sunday as well.

So the lesson here is that if you’re trying to choose which day of the weekend to do your hardcore drinking–I’m talking hide the guns, lock up the kids, tape all the windows, warn the neighbors, set the killer robots on high alert and put away the rubber sheep (for fear of another embarrassing “incident” while you’re under the influence, not that I’d know anything about that) drinking–do it Sunday. Depending on how tonight’s game goes, our wild card leader status could be in jeopardy.

Not that I’m worried at all for tonight’s game. After all, we’ve got Commander Kick Ass against “Angry” Wade Davis. And just how angry is he? Check the profile photo:

But here’s the thing: With Beckett, Buchholz and Lester going against the Rays at home, we really need to take all three games. This will basically close the 2009 book on the Rays (a nice returning of the favor after they closed the 2008 book on us), position us well for the upcoming Anaheim series (especially with Matsuzaka on the hill for the opener), and help us store some precious Ws before we head off to Baltimore, KC and the Bronx. Yeah, those first two series against the Os and Royals should be cakewalks, but I hate the idea of fighting for our playoff lives against those teams. I want a sweep of the Rays and at least 2 of 3 from the Angels before we leave the confines of Friendly Fenway.
