The lineups are out for tonight’s game; starting at short and batting in the nine-hole is Julio Lugo. To me, this makes no sense. As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The team is on an 11-game win streak with Nick Green at short and Lugo off hunting Sleestacks…I mean rehabbing. Green has 14 doubles and 7 RBI in his 15 games, and is batting a healthy .298 while playing solid defense. Does anybody expect to get that out of Lugo?

Just yesterday, Tito had this to say:

“Just talked to him (Lugo) a little while ago and told him welcome back,” Francona said. “He’s not playing tonight. Lugie played two games and DH’d yesterday. Feels pretty good about himself. I think he’s still working on strength. Doing good, but a lot of it is going to be on how he feels. Now he’s coming off knee surgery and he’s got 12 at-bats. We’ll play him (in this series). Just try to use common sense. Nick’s done a really good job so there’s no sense in pushing (Lugo) just to see if he can get somewhere. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.”

And here he is in the starting lineup today.

Also, JD Drew is back in the lineup after sitting out with “cramping issues.” ‘Nuff said.
