Matsuzaka came out with shoulder fatigue (also known as the Man-I-don’t-want-to-suffer-my-first-loss-to-the-Mariners flu) and Timlin couldn’t hold the fort. But at least we had number 499, courtesy of Manny.

Somehow, watching the boys fumble and bumble their way across the left coast has been made a bit easier by the fact that we’re on the precipice of history. Edging ever-closer to 500 motherflippin’ home runs. Tonight, we’ve got Shakey Wakey on the mound–a guy who’s given up 14 runs in his last 7 2/3 innings on the road and desperately needs offense whenever he’s on the hill.

The forecast looks ominous, yes. But I’ll be too caught up in every Manny at-bat to notice.

See you at 10:10.
