One of the cool things about LOST, ABC’s surreal drama about plane crash survivors on a weird-ass island, is how the Red Sox winning the World Series has been something of a running gag.

The father of lead character Jack favored the expression, “That’s why the Red Sox will never win the World Series” as something of a metaphor for why some things are just fated to be. And in last week’s episode, even after months of battling ghosts and other beasties that defy description, it seems Jack still can’t wrap his head around the idea of a Sox championship:

Oh, and when Jack says, “I can’t believe it’s been one hundred days since I’ve seen a game”? I heard that.
