Dropping two in a row to the Yanks isn’t quite as scary as that headline in today’s Extra Bases blog: “Manny Could Be Out a While.”
His absence was felt last night, when we could muster only a paltry four hits. Against the Yanks’ offense, that’s not gonna cut it.
Regarding the Manny-free line-up, no one puts it better than David Ortiz:
“That’s one of your thunder [sic],” said Ortiz, who interrupted a Clemens no-hitter in progress with a home run into the third deck with one out in the sixth inning. “So when your cleanup hitter goes down like that, it doesn’t matter how much of a lead you have, it’s hard to replace a cleanup hitter.”
In another example of how much Major League Baseball hates us, today’s Yanks/Sox game is scheduled during normal business hours. In Curt we trust… to bring back the seven game lead.
