This is the kinda game we’ve been waiting for all season. When the Sox finally put it all together and just kick-ass mercilessly. It’s like when they added Jo and Blair to the Facts of Life cast in the second season, everything just started to gel. Last night, the Sox didn’t need a lights-out performance from Dice-K, they didn’t need five hits from Mike Lowell, they didn’t need Papelbon to come in and put out a fire. Everyone just did their job, and the game becomes a nice “W” for the Sox.

Coco Crisp, Julio Lugo and Manny Delcarmen have kick-started this team over the past several games, and that takes the pressure off the rest of the guys. Lugo is 9 for his last 15 going back to his 3-hit game in Detriot. Coco is hitting .285 in July and still playing his trademark stellar defense. MDC has thrown eight-and-a-third innings of shut-out ball in July. He’s given up just four hits and a walk in that stretch, striking out 11.

Other notables from last night: Big Papi’s first Fenway blast since April, a double-steal from Crisp and Pedroia that didn’t even draw a throw, and as pictured above, a very happy Eric Hinske put one out of the yard.

These are good times, everybody, enjoy them.
